호주 치료용품청 부작용 심한 ‘기침약 44종’ 전면 리콜 > 호주뉴스

호주 치료용품청(TGA)이 아나필릭시스(과민증)반응으로 인해 잠재적으로 생명을 위협할 수 있는 기침 억제제 폴코딘(pholcodine)이 함유된 44개 의약품들을 전면 리콜했다.

리콜 대상은 베나드릴(Benadryl), 코드랄(Codral), 캐미스트스 온(Chemists’ Own), 테리 화이트(TerryWhite), 프라이셀린(Priceline, 디프람(Difflam), 비솔본(Bisolvon), 듀로-투스(Duro-Tuss) 등의 다양한 기침 시럽과 의약품이다.

뇌에서 직접 작용하는 신경 신호를 감소시킴으로써 기침을 억제하는 폴코딘(pholcodine)은 1950년대부터 사용되어 왔으며, 처방전 없이 살 수 있는 다양한 의약품에 포함되어 있다.

마른기침 치료를 목적으로 하는 기침 시럽과 진통제 외에도 감기와 독감 증상을 보다 폭넓게 치료하는 제품등에서 쉽게 발견할 수 있다.

호주 마취 전문의들은 노르웨이와 스웨덴 1980년대 후반 이후 시판되지 않은 이유를 들어 TGA에 제품 회수를 수년간 요구해왔다.

TGA는 기침 치료 의약품 리콜을 발표하면서 호주에서 신경근 차단제에 대한 부작용으로 사망한 환자 1명을 포함해 폴코딘과 관련된 아나필락시 반응의 부작용 50건을 보고 받았다.

폴코딘 성분 복용 후 마취를 할 시 아나필릭시스(과민증)이 반응이 나타날 수 있고, 독감약과 함께 복용시 부작용 위험이 보고됐다.

소비자들은 처방전 없이 살 수 있는 감기약과 독감약, 특히 기침 시럽을 보유하고 있는 사람은 포코딘 성분이 함유되어 있는지 꼭 확인해야 한다.

기침 치료를 대체 약품은 약사에게 문의 해야한다.
